SR Sports Therapy aims to return you fitter, stronger, and more resilient to injury. This might be back to work, normal daily activities or to sport.

This is your typical approach taken by everyone else - working on an individual appointment basis, across the period of time working together at agreed intervals. Paid per appointment (often adds up to more)!
After paying for an initial assessment separately, you access 1x online video call to check in on progress and look forward to the week ahead, setting goals and targets and addressing technique or exercise-related concerns. At the end of the month, you then get a face-to-face follow-up appointment to review in person the progress made. Click the link below for more details.
After paying for your initial assessment separately, you access 3x in-person rehabilitation sessions EVERY week for the month, which includes coached rehabilitation, hands-on treatment if appropriate, discount on other services, and any modifications to the programme as required - we can even programme other sessions in if it is suited to your needs. At the end of the month, you then have a 1-to-1 face to face review appointment to look at your progress. Click the link below for more details.
We hold any new injuries/initial appointments on a Saturday. Follow-up appointments for these complaints can then be made on either a Monday, Wednesday or Saturday. This is due to our working day being much longer on a Saturday and allows more time in our working day for admin based tasks which may be associated with initial appointments such as writing referral letters.
Steven has a very specific approach - where possible, he will use more active approaches to injury management and treatment (e.g. exercise rehabilitation) to encourage patient empowerment and reducing reliance on others to improve your outcomes - this means less frequent appointments where suitable and more money in your bank account as well. But this all requires your trust in the process, which Steven will explain in the initial appointment. We believe that passive methods (e.g. soft tissue massage techniques) can provide some short-term relief of symptoms, but are not the long-term solution - to put it simply, someone rubbing a muscle would not solve the issue that led to the injury in the first place, and will usually see you booking in once every 2-4 weeks forever-more... At times, it may be suitable to apply a short course of passive treatments to complement more active methods. All of this will be explained where necessary within your appointment. We must stress however - if you want to be prodded on a monthly basis to only feel good for a week but struggle again with the injury for the remainder of the month, and repeat this on a monthly basis, then this is not the right place for you. There may be a requirement of this approach in certain instances to help manage symptoms or pain, but this should be discussed.
Through a series of movements, medical tests, strength and mobility assessments, SR Sports Therapy aims to identify factors that may have led to the injury in the first place. This is then used to decide the best treatment and exercise rehabilitation plan to get you back better than ever. Recommendations for the treatment plan will be made in your Personal Recovery Plan that you'll be given by your therapist. We then apply principles of both rehabilitation and strength & conditioning to ensure a fast return to function. These principles aim to create adaptation in the affected tissues to ensure that the structures heal optimally. This could include focusing on strengthening, joint mobility, flexibility, speed or movement quality. We can even offer on-pitch sessions (subject to pitch-booking charges) to get you back to sport with functional training exercises - price may vary depending on pitch-size required.
We offer a large variation of treatments, but must stress we place a large emphasis where possible on active treatment methods - this empowers you, the patient, to take control of your recovery and become less reliant on others or passive means of treatment such as sports massage. When we see it suitable, we may include a variety of techniques from joint mobilisations and soft tissue techniques, muscle stimulation (Compex), blood flow restriction training, exercise rehabilitation, field-based rehabilitation to get you back to sport, and can even source venues for hydrotherapy sessions on request (pre-payment required for hydrotherapy session bookings).
Struggling to recover between training or competition and think you need some help? Methods or techniques that can be applied are dependant on your needs, including:
This approach would suit those who are free of injury but want to maximise their recovery. A portion of the session time will be spent reviewing progress (follow-up sessions) and taking some objective measures to assess effectiveness of the treatment. If booking for recovery purposes only, patients should be free from injury and book a Sports Therapy & rehabilitation session, specifying in the notes that it is for a recovery-based session.
Sports therapists are trained to provide assessment and treatment for a variety of musculoskeletal complaints no matter their original cause - so this could include muscle strains, ligament sprains, tendon injuries, lower back pain, neck pain, and a whole host of other conditions. If you still aren't sure, why not drop us an email or telephone call to discuss your problems and we can point you in the right direction, whether that is with us or another provider.
Our services include:
When possible please provide more than 24 hours notice for appointment cancellations to avoid incurring charges relating to the missed appointment.
Less than 24 hours or no notice will result in pre-payment being requested on booking of future appointment appointment and a 50% fee will be charged for to cover the missed appointment. This balance must be cleared to secure any future appointments, and the proceeding appointment will need to be paid in advance (e.g. 1 missed £40 appointment with a new appointment booked, would require you pay in advance £60).
If you have pre-paid for any appointments or block bookings, any cancellations with less than 24 hours or no notice will result in the loss of the appointment from the total number of sessions pre-paid for; the session will not be transferrable or re-arranged in these circumstances.
For any COVID-19 related cases, appointments will be rearranged to a suitable time following government guidance without any additional costs associated.
